Every year the Glimpses in Time exhibition honors a Master Photographer.  This year it is Imogen Cunningham, An American Photographer born in 1883.

Imogen Cunningham was a pioneer of art photography, whose influence continues in the photographic style of the SF Bay Area and art photography today.  Cunningham’s peer relationship with Edward Weston, Dorthea Lange, Alfred Stieglitz, Ansel Adams and Minor White and her great body of work on nudes and botanicals define her as a master.

This year’s Juror is San Francisco Art Institute’s Linda Connor.  Connor is photographer whose work is well known for their spiritual and exotic locations including India, Mexico, Thailand, Ireland, Peru, Nepal, Egypt, Hawaii and the American Southwest.  She is a professor in the Photography Department at the San Francisco Art Institute where she has taught since 1969.  She is also a founding director of the San Francisco Bay Area non-profit group, PhotoAlliance.

The entries for the juried exhibition comprised of photographers from all over the world.

Featuring sculptures by Chukes and paintings by Ruth Tunstall Grant

An Artist Talk with Chukes & Ruth Tunstall Grant
June 5, 2010, Saturday

“Ruth was the first true artist to open my eyes to the potential of what my sculptures could become. For the first time I began to feel as if I was among people who thought like me. My relationship with Ruth was unusual but amazing . . . I believe Ruth recognized something about my approach towards sculpture that set me apart from others. She never told me exactly what it was but I often felt there was something she wanted to tell me but she was waiting for just the right time.” – CHUKES

Join us for a stimulating conversation with the two artists.
