Leroy Parker presents drawings, paintings and mixed media taken from the Golden Age of Jazz.  Marvel on the familiar imagery and abstractions of his artwork.  Find the pattern of predictability set up by the rhythmic repeats in the format, and the most extreme opposite.  Discover how Parker’s works create a stimulating tension.

Leroy Parkers’ work is great addition to the Curatorial collaboration of the Oakland Marriott City Center and Joyce Gordon Gallery, as both present local Bay Area Artists celebrating Jazz Music.

Parker grew up in Oklahoma where he loved the woods and the earth, and watching storms with thunder and lightning. He went to California College of Art Crafts, and earned a BFA and MFA.  He is an artist/professor/art dealer currently living in Lafayette, CA.

The Joyce Gordon Gallery is a commercial fine art gallery located at 406 14th Street Oakland, California.  The gallery exhibits work that reflects the social and cultural diversity of the Bay Area and international artists.  The aim of the gallery is to respect the creative pursuits of the individual and seeks to make such work accessible to a broad audience.  The gallery is open to the public Thursday & Friday 9am – 6pm and Saturday-Sunday 1pm-4pm.  The gallery is also available by appointment for private events and showings
