Aa celebration of women from all color, size, age, gender, local and international as a form of politics/non-politics & as a body of thought. Erasing the indistinct lines of class, gender and geography, and celebrating even the contradicting facets of womanhood.

Featuring poets Tureeda Mikell as the storyteller, Michael Lange as Malcolm X, Doug Howerton performing readings from “Firing Banks and Moving Targets”, and Charles Dubois performing the “History of the Black Panther Party”.

Unchanged Memoirs
Film Screening &  Discussion
February 13, Saturday.

3:00-4:30 pm, Film Screening (running time: 75 min.)
5:00-6:00 pm, Film Discussion with Zakiya Folami Jendayi”Unchanged Memoirs” a 74 minute documentary presenting dramatic selections from the extensive Slave Narrative Collection through on-camera readings by over a dozen actors, interspersed with archival photographs, music, film and period images. A film discussion with Zakiya Folami Jendayi also follows.


The Joyce Gordon Gallery  is a commercial fine art gallery located at 406 14th Street Oakland, California.  The gallery exhibits works of art that reflects the social and cultural diversity of the Bay Area and international artists.  The aim of the gallery is to respect the creative pursuits of the individual and seeks to make such work accessible to a broad audience.  The gallery is open to the public Wednesday through Friday 12pm – 6pm and Saturday-Sunday 1pm-4pm.  The gallery is also available by appointment for private events and showings.
